Shell to Sea picket in Belfast

category antrim | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday October 07, 2006 18:34author by Ciarán Ó Brolcháin - Shell to Sea Belfastauthor email shelltoseabelfast at gmail dot com Report this post to the editors

About 25 people took part in a picket outside the Shell garage on the Andersonstown Road in Belfast yesterday in opposition to the attempts to force a pipeline through Bellanaboy and in solidarity with the brave stance of the people of Rossport.

Members of the IRSP, Organise!, Sinn Féin, Socialist Youth and others took part in the protest in which passing cars and pedestrians were leafleted. The picket lasted for an hour and involved protestors blocking the entrance to the station for a while as well. The response to the protest was generally very positive from those who were handed leaflets about the ongoing campaign.

Victory to Rossport.
