Mc dowell gets PD leadership

category national | politics / elections | other press author Sunday September 10, 2006 17:41author by rt hon Dr o as if Report this post to the editors

Breaking news just in folks.

Michael Mc Dowell is to lead the Progressive Democrats.

or in plain english :- Big Swinging Mickey Mc Dowell will now lead the PD's.

I've gone on record as saying he was the worst minister of Justice this state ever had. I suppose reactions will start soon.

But at least this means the girth of Harney's ambition has been measured & she may be forgotten about. The worst minister for Health ever. Here's a BBC interview she gave a while back reminding everyone Michael wasn't going to get her job.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/hardtalk/5130470.stm

But he has it now.

but:- this is one less female leader in a country with a female TD representation
less than, (at this point) the sub-saharan African female ratio.
This is a problem for Irish people.

It's a big problem , because women a re not represented at the legislation table,
the church or the judiciary. or as Mc Dowell would have it- the triple arm of good governance.

This is unprecedented in western deomocracy.

Feck Harney but we need women debating and legislating.

Shockingly, Ireland does not even appear in the top 20 countries
even more shocking, Ireland is beat by Pakistan, Mauritius and the United States.

the fact that ministers of the Irish government got away without paying 2nd home tax.

(Mc Dowell's is in Roscommon)

I have so much to say about both Harney & Mc dowell. I have said so much before. I gave them nicknames. "mammy Harney" then became "granny Harney", "big swinging Mickey Mc Dowell" was unrivalled till minister O'dea took up the pistol & pointed it journalists and allowed himself the nickname "9mm willie". But at the moment I don't want to add more. I really am much more interested in how people & voters in the Irish homeland react to this news - & am awaiting clarification as to whether or not Mcdowell is tanaiste or not.

The papers call it a bloodless coup, The accession to Power of probably the most
incompetent politician in Irish History, but you don't need competency to be a leader,
just an image and a bit of energy.

The most invidious piece of legislation ever to pass through the Dail was written or drafted
by the servants of Mr Mc Dowell's Dept of Justice and it is grounded in the failure of the
Fianna Fail government to deal honestly and openly with the issue of child abuse.

Mr Noel Dempsey TD was accused of obstructing the work of the Laffoy Commission on
Child Abuse, and Michael Woods TD signed a pact with the devil called the Church /State
indemnity Fund. Both of these of obstructions of victims supports, by one of the triple
arms of good governance had a long term impact on 1. How government in a wealthy
nation deals with victims. 2. How the 'leader' of that government (a Man of the people)
gives more consideration to enriching the voting %.

On June First this year, after a year of warning, the release of two sex offenders and
an uproar caused by the tea-time radio hosts and the corporate media , 2000 women
stood outside the Dail with white flowers and were barricaded. Inside, the men
stood up and prayed and a facsimile of debate was presented to the media high nation.

Mc Dowell's refrain was ' lies, damned lies' as the order bell rang (three times)
and when the fog cleared , we had a deal. The Sex Laws, are passed. Victims will be
cross-examined. Bertie was absent. Michael Woods (Church/State indemnity fund)
chaired in the absence of the Leas Ceann- Comhairle and One by one the opposition
spokemen kicked and bucked , but facilitated the law with Section 5 intact.

Mr Mc Dowell is an incompetent leader but he is shrewd. Section5 of the Sex Laws
are open to constitutional challenge as they are not gender neutral.

another writer called it an appalling vista.
1.No woman spoke during the debate.
2.Bertie (absent) has hinted on the holding of a referendum.
3. The victims of Rape are further victimised by the rape laws.
4.Section5 is open to constitutional challenge.

Mister'A' was released by Ms Justice Mary Laffoy. She had no choice within the parameters of
the exsistant law. Which Like the Prison service laws have not been updated because victims
and criminals are treated in the wealthiest EU nation with equal lack of humanity to their
beings.

Today the newspapers say that three suicides have been prevented at Mountjoy Prison in
the Last week.

Three coffins have left Mountjoy, two suicides and one murder.
Three reports on Abbeylara.
The Silver Bullet.
The Morris tribunal
have crossed Mister Mc Dowell's desk.

The prison officers are getting riotous, because the prisoners are not getting re-hab,
education or sex.

http://www.indymedia.ie/article77657

add to this the families of Leonard Rossiter, Terence Wheelock and
those who commit suicide after they leave the brutality of our prison system.

The Stratetgic Infra structure Bill was adapted to accomodate Minister Mc
Dowell's vote Majority( by not including Poolbeg Incinerator)

Thus we have a very powerful new leader who controls the state's police services
and a nimby. But the elections are about the economy, aren't they?

I welcome the nomination of Michael Mc Dowell T.D as leader of the Progressive Democrats and Tanaiste to our democratically elected Government.

I look forward to seeing the present Government re-elected and the Progressive Democrats increasing their number of T.Ds elected and seats held from 8 to 12 at the next General Election.

In closing I wish Mary Harney well with her furstrated proposals for change at the Department of Health, and thank her for her contribution to to the founding of our prosperous economy.

afterall a new deputy leader in your party is a woman.
she wears very pretty shoes, I noticed them during the sex law debates.
and is interested in Church/State separation.

Only problem is, if you think in terms of business and education the nuns who currently feed
immigrant kids and clothe em, will have nothing to do, will they?

will the sponsors /business feed hot milky porridge to kids who wear my kids
second hand clothing?

This is money and lives and the issue of equality....

The National Infrastructure Board, propounded by Martin Cullen Td was challenged by
Michael Mc Dowell on the basis of fast-tracking planning, including Incinerators.
There is one in his constituency (proposed at Poolbeg)

Cullen was bumped with his cronies to Transport and Roche
propounded the SIB- wherein An Bord Pleanala would be divided to allow for
fast-track planning, (pipelines, roads. a one stop shop for critical infrastructure-
except the Poolbeg project)

This went through the Dail on the day of Charlie Haughey's Funeral. 16th june 06.

Are you supporting the Incinerator in Ringsend? Otherwise why are you attacking McDowell for opposing it?

am pointing out that this nimby bent the law of the land to suit his vote majority.
