Maynooth Protest in support of Joanne Delaney

category kildare | worker & community struggles and protests | news report author Thursday February 23, 2006 13:10author by Jim Report this post to the editors

There was an excellent response from members of the public and passers by to a protest in support of Joanne Delaney that took place outside the new Dunnes Stores in Maynooth in the Manor Mills Shopping Centre. The Mayor of Kildare Cllr. John McGinley came along to support the protest. In a shift in tactics security threatened to call the Gardaí on protestors. The protest was held by members of the Labour Party in NUI Maynooth and Maynooth town.

Needless to say this attempt to scare away the protestors was ignored.

A further protest takes place this Thursday February 23rd outside Dunnes Stores in Grafton Street at 6pm in support of Joanne Delaney. Everyone is welcome.
