This morning I received the attached letter from AIB requesting that I provide 'proof' of my identity.

This is my response to the bank:

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Re: Customer Records Update

I write in response to your letter dated 26 August 2013 with the above reference, a photocopy of which is attached.

I am not willing to comply with this request for the following reasons:

1. Identical information was provided prior to the opening of this account
2. It is not possible to open an account without first providing photographic proof of identity together with other items of proof

I consider writing in such terms to your existing customers is tantamount to an insult as it is practically accusing your customers of being fraudsters, money launderers or of being involved in ‘terrorist’ activity.

If you wish to correspond further with me regarding this matter please respond to the contact details at the top of this letter.
Yours sincerely
signed
